As we're moving into the dark reality of winter, I think it's important to incorporate some bright colors into our lives. I tend to wear lots of black so I'm trying to find a brighter coat. Black can always be dressed up with bright scarves and accessories. Lately I've had turquoise & pink on my mind. What an amazing color combination. I like Tiffany Blue and fuschia. I know I'm no where near marriage, I'm not even dating anyone right now, but when I do get married again, it won't be in white. I would gladly marry in anyone of these pink gowns by Japanese company Barbie Bridal. And then I would make all the guests wear white!

In the wake of the dearly departed shelter magazines, Domino and Metropolitan Home, comes a new era of online magazines. First was Lonny, which I blogged about last week and now there is Rue. Started by a blogger in Chicago (I so wish I could start a magazine too!), Rue is very beautiful, helpful, stylish and fun. Come on! It opens up with Champagne & Sparkles! As I'm nursing a hangover this morning; I proclaim that I am not drinking any alcohol for the next month. You heard it first. Happy Monday or something like that.........

I'm sure all you designers out there got the super exciting news that online magazine Lonny has a new website with archives of rooms for past issues. Although all the past issues are available to browse through, now a digital archive is easy to look though and find lots of design inspiration. Loony has become a good substitute for the dearly departed Domino magazine and the now this new website is making it easier and easier to like it more. There is also lots of pink inspiration which I love! Enjoy my fellow designers!

The Wishbone Chair designed by Hans Wegner in 1949 is being offered for the first time in pink as part of project to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Twenty world famous interior designers designed cushions for this iconic chair that will be auctioned off in NYC on October 7. You can also purchase the chair in pink for the next year at SUITE New York and 20% of profits go to the Breast Caner Research Foundation. What a wonderful idea! I'm in the market for a new chair. I'll have to check it out when I'm in NYC next month to visit my best friend who just moved. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time there now that she has moved. As if I need another reason to go back to Paris soon(er than later), this very pink and beautiful designed restaurant, La Villa, just opened close to the Arc de Triomphe. Described as "Paris bistro-something more like the 1960's Hollywood mansion" it is "almost as if we were writing a film script. The story evolves through the different spaces." I just love the pink uplighting and the glass hallway. Oh Paris!

I spent a lovely Sunday at the Seattle farmers market, Pike Place, to enjoy the Cheese Festival. That's right, a whole festival for cheese! Although I enjoyed the cheese immensely, the real surprise was that the first of the Peonies had arrived. I love love love Peonies! This socialite in Dallas got lucky when her father bought her a penthouse at the W Hotel and had Jan Showers & Associates design it. I love straight forward modern feel but with all the girly touches. You can tell that a girl lives here, but it's not over girly. A very lucky girl, indeed.

The party is over. Time to plan the next one! I wish I could get paid for throwing parties for myself! Last Friday I had a birthday party, hosted by my good friend but planned by the both of us. Hopefully somebody was taking pictures because even though I brought my camera, I didn't take any. Oops! This is the lovely dress I was wearing that evening. The Parottfish Dress by Nanette Lepore. It perfectly matched the color theme of the evening. I had so much fun wearing it too. I love when clothes are just fun to wear!

Did you know that you can flip through some of the current Living Etc. issue online? Well I didn't until today. It's just enough to get me interested to go out and buy it. With so many home design magazines gone, I always look forward to the new Living Etc. although they don't deliver to US addresses so I have to go to Barns & Noble to purchase it every moth and it is twice as much as an other magazine. In-the-Pink Drink

Ice

6 cups ruby red grapefruit juice

1 Cup pomegranate juice

1 cup ice-cold vodka

Fresh mint sprigs

Fill large pitcher half way with ice. Add 6 cups grapefruit juice, pomegranate juice, vodka, and some fresh mint leaves. Stir to mix. Serve in chilled glasses. Garnish with mint sprig. Makes 8 servings.

My school quarter is coming to a close and I've been busy this week. It's beautiful in Seattle today and I really should be outside at the market or running the many beautiful routes we have here. Fall Fashion Preview. Moschino Cheap & Chic. I love the oversized flower! I bought a dress from Anthropologie recently with a similar (smaller) flower in black. How wonderful it would be to have this pink dress this fall or really a *cheaper* Tanya's budget version of this dress.

The Cocktail: 200 Fabulous Drinks. What a beautiful book combining two of my favorite things; art & drinks. The book was written by Jane Rocca and the artwork is by illustrator Kat MacLeod. R.I.P. Brittany Murphy

One of my favorite actresses died on December 20, 2009. Today the corner released the cause of her death. Sadness has struck the world as there will be no more funny, silly, crazy, girly Brittany Murphy movies. I think I've seen everything she has acted in. I loved her range from funny to serious. The last movie I saw was Love And Other Disasters. Very cute movie. R.I.P. Brittany. You will be missed.

It's the little things in life that should make you happy, right? Well it's the little things that keep me going everyday waiting for the big dreams to happen. Something that made me smile today was getting my Hello Kitty debit card in the mail today. I've had this card for a couple years but last week I lost it. So I called and cancelled it and the women that I talked to said that it was not available anymore. I would be getting a regular Bank of America card in the mail. My heart broke a little. So I waited a week and today my card came in the mail. It was my lovely Hello Kitty card. Brand spanking shiny new! Oh happy day! It is the little things that make me smile. And now some retail therapy. Where should I use my card today?

A Walk on Pike

I'm blogging to you from Cupcake Royale on Capital Hill in Seattle. A lovely little spot decorated in sunday colors; pink, white and brown. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, but if you're ever in Seattle, check it out. The cupcakes are yum yum yummy. I had a smaller version today called a "Babycake" but they certinaly have lots of flavors to make everyone happy.

Crazy....I never noticed the building that housed Cupcake Royale (even though I've been here before and drive by all the time). I was walking across the street and it literally caught my breath. It's red and pink! The building is called Eleven Eleven East Pike. The website shows pictures and renderings of the gourgous condos in this building. I dream of living here somday....sign.

I've been spending lots of time gathering images and ideas for a class project of mine. The project is to design a commercial space and I am designing a Mexican Bakery & Cafe. This is actually a business idea of mine that I hope to open someday (3-5 year plan). Of course I love pink so it will be full of pink touches. This Italian restaurant called Fabbrica in Rotterdam is very close to what I want in my cafe to look like. I love the pink benches, exposed brick, mosaic tile and chandeliers all in a large warehouse space. Now I am inspired to finish (well start) my project and dream about my future cafe.

Best Western at its Best!

Although this hotel is designed in colors of purple, green and white, I couldn't help blog about it as it is a Best Western in New York City. Yes, a Best Western. Recently renovated, the President Hotel at Times Square is fun and colorful and oh so modern. Oversize lamps and sofa in the lobby has a feel of a place I would want to spend time in. The rooms are clean and bright with pictures of past presidents. I know where I'm staying next time I'm in New York City. Which is soon hopefully . I'm trying to plan a trip for Valentine's Day weekend. A friend might come with me. All I have to do is get the time off from school. Cross my fingers. Happy Friday!

Might as well just say what you have to say. And then let the pillow doing the talking. I'm falling in love with these oh so honest pillows from Alexandra Ferguson at etsy! Plus they are made from recycled plastic water bottles. Each pillow is approximately the equivalent of 4 bottles that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill. They are probably more decorative than functional but I think this would be the BEST way to let that someone know just what your thinking!

I've always been a little slow......so I'm just finding out about this new online interior design magazine called Lonny. It looks like they will be publishing 4 times a year, according to the seasons. Right now you can browse through the winter issue. I have not seen the premier issue from last fall. I like the content and the helpful tips always given in 5 and put into cute little boxes. Definitely a good addition to the world of design.

I love wallpaper! The patterns, the textures, the colors. The only thing I don't like about wallpaper is the commitment. It's not easy putting up and taking down wallpaper, so you really have to love it because your going to have to live with it for awhile. I grew up in a bedroom with 70's red velvet wallpaper. After about 5 years of living in that room, I torn it down and painted the walls white. Sometimes I look at old pictures and fondly think about that red wallpaper. I guess nothing lasts, except memories. So, my tip for the day: choose your wallpaper wisely. And possibly one of the patterns below is the perfect one for you. I'm totally obsessed with Lady Gaga. She is so theatrical. Strange, beautiful, artistic. And I love "Bad Romance". The song, the video. The first time I heard it I love love loved it! Simple lyrics but it actually meant something to me. I was thinking of someone at the time. Check out the video, but be warned, it's not for the faint of heart.

It's officially Holiday Season! The air is cool and crisp, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, Starbucks has brought out their holiday cups and I just got my November Anthropologie catalog. These pictures and clothing are inspiringly beautiful. It just makes me want Christmas to come sooner! Yeah, just kidding! Holiday shopping isn't something I'm looking forward to, so for now I'll enjoy the pictures.

Here are some images of the Thai restaurant Kurve he designed and just opened in New York City in August 2009. I think I need to take a trip to NYC soon, very soon. The food looks pretty yummy too!

I love going to this site and looking through the pictures dreaming of taking a vacation to one of the Hip Hotels, or to all of them! Oh tequila, how I love you! This new tequila is from Gran Centenario’s and their latest 2009 release. The classic tequila producer began to distribute the world’s only hibiscus infused reposado tequila this past February. Each bottle is infused with the flowers then aged in port barrels for nearly 2 months in order to achieve its soft pink color. And of course, the tequila is made from 100% highland blue agave.

Roseangel was recently praised in the New York Times for its subtle floral notes. Tequila lovers can rest assured that the unique taste of Gran Centenario is not masked by a sweet rosy concoction.

According to Gran Centenario, Roseangel features “a complex perfumed nose with ripe fruit and floral notes, plus hints of vanilla. The palate holds flavors of dried fruits, which leads to a smooth and gentle finish.”

Accenttheparty brings me (and now you) great party ideas, cocktail recipes, PRETTY pictures and lots more. It's Friday so here is a fun drink you can sip on all weekend.

The Pink Breeze

Ingredients: (Will serve 2)

5-6 Large Strawberries (can be Fresh or Frozen) and more for Garnish

1 Cup of Ice Cubes (About 8-10)

3 ounces of Pina Colada Mix

3 ounces of White Rum ( We used Puerto Rican White Rum) [Optional: If you want an Alcoholic Drink]

*Note: Fresh Pineapple and Coconut Milk may be used to substitute the Pina Colada Mix if you like.

Preparation:

Combine all the ingredients above and blend them in a blender.

It will a be Frozen Drink.

Miss Amy Butler sure is talented. I have some time off between summer and fall quarter from school. What am I doing with my time? Well not much so far...but making an upholstered headboard for my bed is on the list. I came across Amy Butler's fabrics. Available at speciality fabric stores (there is one located not too far from my place on Queen Anne in Seattle). I just have to choose with one I like the best. Hard because they are all so pink!

With all my LOVE TANYAIngredients:
6 raspberries
2 oz. Stoli Razberi
1 oz. sweet and sour mix
1 oz. cranberry juice
1/2 oz. cream
1 bottle sparkling white wine

Crush three raspberries in a cocktail shaker. Add Stoli Razberi, sweet and sour mix, cranberry juice and cream. Shake and strain. Top with a splash of sparkling wine and garnish with three raspberries on a toothpick.

I just love this artist, elloh, on Esty. She dones prints on canvas and on paper. And most of her artwork is her depiction of awsome movies, TV shows, singers, and song lyrics. I like the Breakfast at Tiffany's print, the Buffy print (Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my all time favorite TV show) and Pretty in Pink. So inspiring!

I've been away for awhile, so sorry if you've missed me. The fact is I'm not really sure anyone is reading this, but if you are please leave me a message! I would love to hear from you. So going back to being away, I guess I got caught up in life and havent' had much time to think about design or pink...so sad. Ok, I never stop thinking about design. Here is a bench/bookcase that I found and of course I saved the picture and can't rememver where I found it. I will do reseach later and figure it out. I promise. And I promise to post more. :) So I found the site where you can view and purchase this bench/bookcase. "Shelves with a Bench" is from a designer named Stanislav Katz from Latvia.

It's another beautiful day in Seattle, which is amazing considering the seriouly bad days we've had up until this weekend. I saw these french inspired "Fleur de Lis" tumblers and carafe on the web site for In Style Magazine this week. With weather this nice remember to stay hydrated! You can purchase them at Maison Midi online but I've also seen them at anthropologie. I sure you can even pick them up at your local antique store and hopefully for a good price. Enjoy the summer while it lasts!

Plastic furniture in true baroque style. Wood furniture covered in plastic makes it easy to clean and so colorful. Comes in lots of colors actually but I like the pink.

Snog on a hot day.

I just saw these pictures of the first frozen yoghurt store to open in the United Kingdom called Snog. "Snog is a new retail concept offering pure frozen yogurt, natural and green tea. The shop interior evokes the feeling of summer. The concept for the store was to evoke the feeling of a perfect never-ending summer. The interior is deliberately quirky, with a photographic grass floor and British flowers on the glass walls. A key element is the digital sky which will adjust the mood of the store perpetually throughout the day and evenings."-Frame Magazine.

It's funny that this would be the first frozen yoghurt store in the UK but I guess it doesn't get hot over there where people are running to the ice cream store with kids in tow. Stores are popping up in Seattle, we definitely saw the trend last summer and now gelato shops are all the rage. I don't care if it's ice cream, frozen yoghurt or gelato, I love sweets things!

CB2 , the online store, is always adding items to their sale. I just came across this print which is on sale of course. I'm really feeling that statement right now "Living for the City". Of course I would like to live closer to the city before I display this in my home but believe me someday I will live downtown or closer to downtown Seattle than I do now. Or maybe someday I'll move to a bigger city....I think I ready for anything right now.

Photographer James Merrell from the UK has taken some of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen. Breaktaking. Interiors and fashion. Sometimes a mix of both. His site has so many wonderful pictures. I even blogged about this first one some time ago but had no idea who had taken the photo. So now I know.
